Eligibility
Nominees must be manufacturing companies with significant operations in the State of Wisconsin. The 2010 Grand Award winners are not eligible for the 2011 program. If you have questions on company eligibility, please contact Kimberly Hughes, MOTY Coordinator at 800-362-7301. Self-nominations are encouraged.
2011 Required Nomination Information
Each company will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges using a ranking system for the categories listed below. Be sure to read the entire 2011 Nomination Form. Nominations must be submitted on paper, not electronically, and should include information or supporting materials for each category.
1. Company Profile
Grand Award by Company Size
Provide an up-to-800-word profile stating why your company deserves to win the MOTY award. (This section is for you to demonstrate what sets you apart from your competitors. A version of these profiles may be used for promotion of the MOTY program.)
Grand Award for Sustainability
Provide an up-to-800-word profile specifically describing your sustainability program and include details of programs that measure efforts to:
- conserve natural resources
- improve energy efficiency
- reduce carbon footprint
- promote employee and community betterment
Companies applying for the Grand Award by Company Size and Sustainability Award will need to submit an additional set of four unbound, three hole punched copies of the required nomination information (for a total of eight sets.) You may also choose to only apply for the Sustainability Award.
In addition to the profile, include the following information for both the Grand Award and Sustainability Award nominations:
2. Financial growth or consistency
We suggest submitting the following pieces of information for the past three years: Income Statement, Balance Statement, Cash Flow Statement. At a minimum include annual sales revenue and profitability figures for the last three years. Proprietary detailed financial information will be kept confidential. A summary of items in a chart or graph format is extremely helpful to the judges. (Proprietary detailed financial information will be kept confidential.)
3. Product description
Please do not submit actual product samples or product catalogs/brochures.
4. Manufacturing process including any environmental solutions/innovations, R&D leadership and/or application of high technology.
5. Operational excellence/continuous improvement
6. Management philosophy/employee commitment (Internal Operations.)
7. Community support and involvement (Stewardship.)
8. Digital artwork files (See Nomination Submission Information below for preferred file formats.)

Judges weigh the importance of these and other criteria and their relevance to each nominee. Judges are in no way influenced by Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, or Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce. The judging panel is independent of the program sponsors.
